August 12th is International Youth Day! The United Nations first designated International Youth Day in 2000 to draw attention to the health, cultural, and economic issues on a worldwide basis.
Our world leaders see our youth as powerful agents of positive change, essential for a better tomorrow as they help change and challenge the ways we produce and consume (inspiring zero-waste, sustainable lifestyle) on a worldwide level. So this August 12th and beyond, let’s recognize the efforts of the world’s young people as they enhance and inspire environmental sustainability. The United Nations is encouraging everyone to organize an International #YouthDay event or activity of their own to celebrate the efforts and power of youth. Need some ideas? Check out the IYD toolkit, then document and share your event by emailing it to youth@un.org so it can be mapped on the IYD World Map of Events…
