About one in seven American males are diagnosed with prostate cancer. However, early diagnosis is the key. Just ask actor, Ben Stiller, who just this past October shared news of his shocking prostate cancer diagnosis 2 years earlier, at the age of 48. According to Stiller, his diagnosis “came out of the blue…I had no idea.” Stiller says that he had no prior history of prostate cancer in his family and showed no symptoms, but that his doctor suspected prostate cancer due to a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test administered during his annual physical. He says, “If I hadn’t gotten the test…I still wouldn’t know…I feel like the test saved my life.”
During the month of November (or Movember) men are urged to learn more about prostate health and prostate cancer risk factors.
