As parents of school-aged children, do you remember a time when the back-to-school and back to head lice seasons didn’t go hand in hand? I don’t.

There’s a reason why a lot of stigma exists around head lice, with phrases like “lousing” and “nit picking”, and plenty of untrue myths surrounding the taboo subject and often making families who have to deal with the issue feel shamed or isolated. Yet statistics from Mount Sinai Hospital reveal that between 6- and 12-million people in the U.S. get head lice annually. Head lice is not an issue just for kids with long hair, dirty hair, or families with pets.  It turns out head lice aren’t picky at all, and can effect just about anyone regardless of socio-economic class, hygiene habits, hair length, gender, or even age.
