Heart-Racing Workout Ideas For Couples

min read

By Emily Lockhart

Staying active and healthy is an important priority for you as an individual and as a couple if you truly want the best for one another. However, sometimes making enough time in the week for working out and a relationship can be next to impossible.

That’s why exercising with your partner is great way to combine the priorities of spending time together as a couple and staying in shape. Here are 10 heart-racing workout ideas for couples…

Partner in Yoga

A yoga class is ideal for couples who have stressful lives because it soothes the body and mind, and helps you see your partnership as a source of bliss and tranquility. Plus, yoga and meditation are ideal for releasing negative energy.

Explore the Outdoors

Couples who enjoy the great outdoors will jump at the chance to hike together.  Exploring nature takes you away from hustle and bustle of the workweek—and it’s so much fun that it doesn’t even feel like exercise.

Dance Classes

Get your groove on in a dance class that will wow your other couple friends at weddings and parties while helping you stay in shape. There are so many types of dance to choose from—including classic ballroom, salsa, jive, Bollywood, and even ballet.

Row Your Love Boat

Canoeing or kayaking is another sweat-inducing workout that you can enjoy as a team—which will only strengthen your relationship that much more.

Take a Dip

Take advantage of the pool at your gym or local recreation center. Make it a point to do some laps, and then relax afterwards in the hot tub or co-ed sauna.

Join a Co-Ed Sport

Competitively-inclined duos will love the togetherness that a co-ed sport provides, such as baseball, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, hockey, volleyball, or dodge ball.

Climb Together

There’s no show of support quite as strong as belaying (or holding the rope of a climber) your partner at the indoor climbing gym.

Match Jogging Steps

Setting pace with your partner during a weekly jog is an inexpensive way to enjoy some physical activity outdoors—and each other.  Just coordinate your schedules and put on those color-coordinated track suits!

Cycling for Two

You don’t really need a bicycle built for two to enjoy time cycling all over town together, and maybe even stopping for a healthy picnic!

Couples Tennis

You’re already a team in your heart, why not be a team on the court? Showing your allegiance in a sport of two, like badminton or tennis, can help you sweat off a whooping 500 calories per game.
