October 2 to 8, 2016 marks National Midwifery Week. This week we recognize midwives and midwife-led primary care for families, individual patients, moms, and babies. We believe that #MidwivesMakeADifference, a big difference that spans well beyond home births (in fact, 97-percent of midwife births occur in hospital) and delivering babies. In fact, the infographic below was created by nurse midwife, Joy Sedlock, CNM and Ob/Gyn, Rebecca Starck, MD, Chair of Regional Obstetrics and Gynecology, to help educate the public on the qualifications of midwives, the many services midwives provide, and to dispel many prevalent midwifery myths…
