Bloating

Bloating is a blanket term used to describe any feeling of excessive expansion of the abdominal area. It is often the result of overeating or excessive gas in the abdomen, but it can also be a symptom of an underlying medical condition such as acid reflux, lactose intolerance, irritable bowel syndrome or constipation. Regardless of the cause, recurrent episodes of abdominal bloating are a sign that the body isn’t digesting food properly. In non-chronic cases, the condition can be treated with over-the-counter antacids. In chronic cases, dietary and lifestyle changes may be needed to reduce the frequency and severity of symptoms.
